In the Folds of Her Mantle
34x44 Framed
Acrylic on canvas
“Let not your heart be disturbed. Do not fear that sickness, nor any other sickness or anguish. Am I not here, who is your Mother? Are you not under my protection? Am I not your health? Are you not happily within my fold? What else do you wish? Do not grieve nor be disturbed by anything.”
To me, the Guadalupe represents a Divine Mother who loves her children no matter what race or religion they are. She is my go to for solace when I am in distress and gratitude for all of the blessings in my life. I believe she is a source of love for all, the ultimate mother full of unconditional love.
This painting is a representation of the Holy Mother inspired by Byzantine Iconography, but adapted to my own personal expression.
